Flight: LOT Polish Airlines LO3904 / LO279 KRK – WAW – LHR
Ticket: Revenue ticket
Aircraft: Bombardier Q400 and Boeing 787
I had quite a long connection in Warsaw so that gave me the opportunity to see the city a little and enjoy a fine lunch opposite the Teatr Wielki. The domestic terminal in Kraków is little more than a garage with no facilities. After security, there was a small newsstand with soft drinks and prepared sandwiches but nowhere to buy coffee. Not the nicest way to start the morning. They are building a new terminal so hopefully domestic flights will be transferred there. Getting from Kraków with the city bus is a long process but once at the airport, a free shuttle bus takes you from close to the bus stop to Terminal 2. Otherwise it’s a 10 minute walk. The flight itself was fine. On time with chocolate and water offered. At boarding for the next leg I learned that there was an equipment change to LOT’s new 787 Dreamliner. I was excited to be flying this aircraft for the first time. They changed my seat from a window to an aisle due to the change but it would have been a nice gesture to have seated Star Alliance Gold customers in the premium economy section instead which remained empty for the whole of the flight.
I must say that I would not want to take a long haul flight on this aircraft. The seats are really tight and legroom is limited. Compared with the superior comfort of the short-haul Embraers it was quite a disappointment. Headphones were distributed and we could enjoy the in-flight entertainment. I found the selection of movies and TV shows quite limited. The service consisted again of the famed chocolate bar and water with other items – coffee, beer, sandwiches and hot food – available for purchase. I’m glad I had the opportunity to try this aircraft.
