Frustrated by the superficial nature of much writing and commenting on opera performances in the mainstream media, I wanted to create something different.  Here, my aim is to present commentary on opera performances with the focus mainly (although never exclusively) on the vocal and dramatic performances offered.  Having read so many reviews that consign singers’ performances to single adjectives in a small paragraph at the end of the piece, I aim at all times to give full attention to the voice and dramatic achievements.  Frustrated also by reading and listening to interviews that barely discuss vocal production and attitudes to roles, I also wanted to start a space where artists can present their work in a relaxed and informal way.  Combined with some articles with tips on travel, this is the recipe that makes operatraveller.com what it is.  Thanks for reading.  Bonne lecture !
